Dancing House Celebrates 30 Years with a Fascinating New Exhibition
One of Prague’s most famous landmarks, the Dancing House, is marking the 30th anniversary of its opening with a special exhibition, Dancing House: The Story of an Iconic Building. Opening on 22 April 2026 at the Dancing House Gallery, the exhibition explores the remarkable history of the building, its groundbreaking architecture, and the stories behind its creation. Visitors will discover never-before-seen archival materials, rare photographs documenting the construction and evolution of the building, original 1990s interior furnishings, and even gain access to technical areas that are normally closed to the public.
Created in cooperation with the prestigious Frank O. Gehry Foundation, the exhibition features unique artefacts connected to architects Frank Gehry and Vlado Milunić, including original construction documents, personal memorabilia, and a rare architectural model of the Dancing House on loan from National Gallery Prague. Interactive elements such as large touch-screen 3D visualisations, digital presentations, and a detailed new scale model of the building bring the story to life. Visitors will also be able to admire original glass tables designed by architect Eva Jiřičná, along with original doors, lighting, and office furniture from the 1990s.
Whether you know it as the Dancing House or by its famous nickname “Ginger and Fred,” this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to look beyond the building’s striking façade and discover how it became one of Prague’s most photographed and debated modern landmarks. Combining architecture, history, design, and exclusive access to hidden spaces, it is a must-see for anyone interested in Prague’s cultural heritage and contemporary architectural icons.
