Czech Press Photo 2025
12. 5. – 30. 11. 2026

A powerful selection of award-winning contemporary photography is coming to Prague as the 31st edition of the Czech Press Photo exhibition opens to the public at National Museum. Held in the museum’s New Building from 12 May until 30 November 2026, the exhibition presents nearly 800 photographs capturing some of the most important moments, social changes, and personal stories from the past year in Czech and European society. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the winning and finalist images from this prestigious competition, which has long celebrated the very best in professional photojournalism.

This year’s edition is also a record-breaking one, with almost 300 photographers submitting an impressive 5,250 photographs across nine competition categories. Among the highlights is the Photograph of the Year by Lukáš Kaboň from Deník, documenting miners working at the ČSM-Sever mine and symbolically portraying the end of an important chapter in Czech industrial history. The exhibition also features striking images of environmental disasters, intimate portraits, life along the Czech-Slovak border, major political events, and inspiring stories of disabled athletes. Two new categories – Project Europe and Life in Czechia – further broaden the exhibition’s perspective on contemporary life and society.

Czech Press Photo is far more than a photography exhibition – it is a moving visual testimony of the world we live in. Through emotion, courage, and exceptional storytelling, the displayed photographs offer visitors a chance to pause, reflect, and see familiar events from a new perspective. Whether you are passionate about photography, interested in current affairs, or simply looking for a meaningful cultural experience in Prague, this remarkable exhibition at the National Museum is well worth a visit.
