Currency exchange tips and warnings

The legal currency is the Czech Crown, abbreviated as CZK or Kč. One euro is approximately 24 CZK and one US dollar is about 19 CZK. Never attempt to exchange money on the street. You are likely to receive a pile of worthless notes  of a different currency. The most convenient and secure way is to withdraw money from a cash dispenser. You may also change money in a bank or in the official exchange office. But note that rates in some exchange offices (e.g. in the airport) are 10 – 20% less than the official rate.
