The Old Town square (Staroměstské náměstí), one of the most notable squares in Prague, was founded in the 10th century and functioned as a marketplace. The most famous attraction of the square is the Old Town Hall (1364) with its Astronomical Clock (1410). The tower of the Town Hall offers a magnificent view of baroque St. Nicholas Church (18th century), gothic Týn Church (14th century) and rococo Kinský Palace.
The statue of the protestant reformer Jan Hus, burnt as a heretic in 1415, was erected in the middle of the Old Town Square in 1915.
