The Prague Symphony Orchestra is the official orchestra of the capital of Prague and belongs to the top Czech music ensembles. It was founded in 1934. The abbreviation FOK in the name of the orchestra and the institution of the same name stands for the words Film – Opera – Concert. The concerts of the orchestra are located in the beautiful area of the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House which is one of the most famous Art Nouveau buildings in Prague. The position of the Chief Conductor was held by Rudolf Pekárek, Václav Smetáček, Jiří Bělohlávek, Petr Altrichter, Gaetano Delogu, Serge Baudo, Jiří Kout and others.

From the 2015/2016 season, Finnish conductor Pietari Inkinen leads the orchestra. The main guest conductor is the Dutchman Jac van Steen. The orchestra performs about fifty concerts in Prague every season and leaves to host abroad. The orchestra has performed in most European countries, repeatedly in the United States and Japan. FOK offers also piano recitals in the Dvořák Hall of Rudolfinum, chamber concerts in the church of St. Simon and Judy, in the Monastery of St. Agnes and in the Viola Theater.
