The Estates theatre is situated between the Old Town Square and the Wenceslas Square, next to Karolinum, the seat of the Charles university. It offers a high-quality drama, ballet and opera performances. The opera repertoire focuses mostly on masterworks of W. A. Mozart. There is a significant correlation between the theatre and Mozart as the world premier of his opera Don Giovanni was conducted here in October 1787.

The impressively beautiful interior of the theatre inspired Miloš Forman, who shot here most of the theatre scenes of his Oscar winning film “Amadeus”, a powerful retelling of Mozart´s life. The building´s outstanding architecture, gorgeous white-gold-blue interior, a high quality performances, and unique atmosphere make it “must-see” of the city.
