Laterna Magika, the first multimedia theatre in the world dates back to 1958 when it presented its first performance at the Expo 58, a world exhibition in Brussels. It soon achieved an international success and played a crucial role in the development of the modern Czech theatre. Laterna Magika is renowned for the specific type of non-verbal theatre, which involves projections, dance, music, light or pantomime.

Its imaginative, experimental, multi-genre performances, which include both theatrical and film elements, appeal to local people as well as tourists.
